Activity Photo
Shows personality faster than a bio ever could.
An activity photo — you doing something specific — works because it answers two questions at once: what do you look like, and what do you actually do. A photo of you playing tennis tells the viewer more than a bio listing 'tennis' as an interest, because it's evidence rather than claim.
When it works
- ✓The activity is identifiable in under a second (skiing, surfing, climbing, cooking)
- ✓You're in motion or mid-action, not posing with equipment
- ✓Position 2 or 3 — supports a strong photo 1
- ✓The activity is one many people would consider attractive (sport, art, travel)
When it fails
- ✗Activity that's hard to read at thumbnail size
- ✗Holding equipment without using it (snowboard prop pose)
- ✗Activity that's universally polarizing (extreme political activism, etc.)
Do this
- →Frame yourself doing the activity, not standing next to it
- →Wide enough to show context, close enough to read your face
- →Pick the activity in your life that's most visually legible
Avoid
- ×Generic 'standing on a mountain' — universally over-done
- ×Activity photos where the equipment is more visible than you
Best position
Position 2
Use this photo type at position 2 of your profile. Photos in the wrong slot underperform even when the photo itself is good.
