Photo in a Car
The worst-performing common photo type. Almost universally bad.
Photos taken in cars consistently underperform across every demographic and platform. The lighting is bad, the framing is constrained, the seatbelt cuts across your body, and it signals 'I took this in 30 seconds while waiting for a friend.' If you're tempted to use a car photo, almost any other context is better.
When it works
- ✓Genuinely never. There's almost always a better option
When it fails
- ✗Always
Do this
- →Get out of the car and take the photo
- →Use car photos as last-resort filler only — and even then, don't
Avoid
- ×All car photos
- ×Especially car photos with seatbelt visible
- ×Car photos with sunglasses on — you've eliminated the only valuable pixel
Best position
Position 3+
Use this photo type at position 3+ of your profile. Photos in the wrong slot underperform even when the photo itself is good.
