Secure Attachment
The attachment style marked by comfort with both intimacy and independence.
Definition
Secure attachment is the attachment style associated with healthy adult relationships: comfort with closeness, comfort with autonomy, generally consistent communication, low anxiety about partners' feelings. Roughly half the adult population is securely attached. Securely-attached people tend to make ambivalent partners (anxious or avoidant) more secure over time.
