Elo score (borrowed from chess rankings) is the colloquial term for the internal score dating apps assign to profiles to determine who they're shown to. While Tinder publicly stopped using the term in 2019, every major dating app uses some version of an internal ranking — it's why your match rate can shift dramatically when you change a single photo. The score is opaque and dynamic.
