Opener Library

Tested opening messages organized by what's in their profile. Filter by category and adapt to your match.

Five rules before you copy any of these

  1. 1.Reference something specific. Generic openers convert at single-digit rates.
  2. 2.Ask one question. Two questions makes you sound nervous; zero gives nothing to respond to.
  3. 3.Keep it under 25 words. Long opening messages dramatically underperform.
  4. 4.Don't open with 'hey', 'wyd', or 'how's your week'. These are the documented worst openers.
  5. 5.Compliment specifics, not appearance. 'I love your dog' beats 'you're beautiful'.

Okay but I need to know your dog's name AND backstory. I'm prepared to share mine.

Asks two specific things, low-pressure

Be honest — does {{petName}} actually like fetch or are they just humoring you?

Genuine question: how often do you talk to your dog like a person? Be honest.

On a scale of 1 to 'wear matching sweaters', how much do you spoil that cat?

Important: does the dog get into the bed or does the dog stay off the bed? I need to know what kind of person I'm dealing with.

Your dog has a better profile than most people on this app. What's their secret.

I'd ask how you're doing but I'm more interested in how the dog is doing.

A great opener only matters if you matched first

Match rate is upstream of message quality. Better photos = more matches = more chances to use a great opener.
